    Interview tips

With over 20 years’ experience of interviews, BeAssured can promise you no two interviews are the same and the interviewer is often as nervous about making a good first impression as you!

    Preparation is key

Spend time researching the company (not just the website) -think creatively, what else can you find out? Maybe you can experience the product? Use LinkedIn to research your interviewer – how long have they been with the business, what was their career path?

    Know your CV

Your interviewer will ask you questions about your career history and it is important to be clear on dates, roles, reasons for leaving. We would suggest taking a copy of your CV with you to interview so you have the same information in front of you as your interviewer.

    Read the job spec thoroughly

Be open about the elements you have limited experience of most employers will want a candidate to grow in the role and will not expect you to be fully compliant with 100% of the role.

    Dress to impress

Not all interviews will require you to be fully suited and booted. Try to find out about the working culture before your interview and mirror the style. It is always worth asking what the dress code is before the interview, so you feel comfortable.

    Answering questions

Take your time and give examples where you can. Your interviewer should ask a mix of soft and competency based questions to get to know you and your experience in equal measure. Don’t be worried about asking for a moment to think, or to repeat the question. Honesty is always the best policy. We would suggest you have pre prepared questions ready to ask, avoid holiday/benefit questions at this stage and focus around expectations, opportunities.

    Be you

The most important advice for interviews is to be yourself! If the interviews goes well and you are interested let them know and ask when you can expect to hear feedback. Other things to consider – be early but not too early, accept a drink if offered or take some water with you (it will save a dry throat), and ask if they are happy you take notes.

Our candidates will know other great candidates that could benefit from being represented and supported by BeAssured Recruitment.
